Summer is officially over.

Summer is now over, and the fall begins. To honour the passing of another season, here are a few questions (a "meme" if you will) to let you know how our summer went.

The End of Summer

1. How did you spend your last summer weekend?
We did sweet diddly squat because it rained most of the weekend!

2. What was your song of the summer?
Steph can't think of any one song, although anything by Great Big Sea is good for her. For Scott, my song of the summer is I'll Take You There by Sammy Hagar

3. Did you have a summer fling?
I don't know if you would consider it a fling since it started eight years a ago...

4. Was there anything you wanted to get around to doing that you didn't?
Well, since a trip to Europe is financially out of the question, I guess we would like to have done more Geocaching. (see post for info)

5. What were your major events this summer? (ie. Did you take any trips? See any good shows? Anyone close to you get married? etc.)
We saw a couple of good concerts. Scott took a trip to Darien Lake to see Sammy Hagar (see review here). Steph saw Great Big Sea. We spent a good amount of time at the cottage. Spent a day Geocaching on the Toronto Island and we had a couple of fun camping trips.

That's all for now, hope you had a great summer!

For The Record...

The movie that I was watchig while Steph was writing her meme was Inside Man starring Denzel Washington, Clive Owen and Jodie Foser. Not one of Denzel's best movies, but it wasn't bad. There wasn't anything else on TV.

What's a meme?

Happy Friday everyone!

I find myself in the predicament of being challenged (or tagged) to meme by my good friend Anita. The first question I had was what the heck is a meme ??? Apparently I am not in the loop when it comes to blog talk yet so this was another learning experiance for me.
For those that are like me, and wondered "What is a meme?", let me share my new found wisdom with you. Pronounced "mëm", it is an idea that is shared and passed from blog to blog, like a question posed, or lists of things. Basically, something to blog about when you can't think of anything else!
I guess I have seen some emails that take a similar form to this particular meme that I have been tagged to complete. So here goes....

I am thinking about... asking Scott what movie he rented because it has some funky bollywood type music playing right now

I just said... "I'm blogging" when Scott asked me what was I doing

I want to... go to the cottage this weekend but it's supposed to rain all weekend!!

I wish... our new house was ready now!!!

I regret... not keeping in touch with Candace (one of my best friends from when I was little) I would be curious to know what she's doing now

I sing... Great Big Sea while I am driving

I hear... some movie Scott's watching & my cat hacking up the treats she just ate I think - yuck!

I am... happy it's Friday!!

I dance... not very often, and not very well. But take me to Great Big Sea concert, look out - I am a dancin' fool (maximize the vertical movement of the room!!)

I'm behind... on filing away my bills and other important papers.

I cry.... at funerals

I am not... skinny!

I forgot... I can't remember, I guess I forgot!

I confuse... very easily somedays :-)

I write... only emails, no snail mail for me anymore!

I need... more money, just a little more money, I need more money (who sings that song anyways?)

Okay, so that's it! Maybe you learned something about me tonight. Anyhow I hereby tag Sandra, Sarah or anyone else reading this to meme!

Have a great weekend all!

~Steph

Welcome to Dog River!

So lately Scott has been having his say about Rockstar. I thought it might be a good time to let you know about one of the most humourous Canadian shows that caught my attention last summer. Tomorrow starts the fourth season of Corner Gas and I can't wait! I hate to knock Canadian programming but for the most part, I find that I could do without it. However, Corner Gas always has me laughing. It's simple, and sometimes dry humour, cracks me up every time. No other show has convinced me that I should invest in the full season DVD's, but this one was different. Anyhow, if you need something to put a smile on your face, then Corner Gas is the show to watch! (Season premiere Monday Sept 18th on CTV)

Rockstar is over.

LUCAS...can you believe that they picked Lucas?!?
Good Luck!!!
That's all I have to say about that!
PS...If anyone from Global TV is reading this...your editing SUCKED!!!!
It really doesn't count if you replay the part you cut out...AFTER THE SHOW IS OVER!
PPS...Oh boy...it's Survivor time now! Woo Hoo!

Rockstar Supernova

Just finished watching the show tonight and I just cast my vote for who I would like to see win this thing.
TOBY... in my opinion, hands down the best performance of the night. I am not a fan of Radiohead, but I must admit, he did alright with this cover. His original is just fantastic. Great performance of a killer tune.
Magni... did a great version of Deep Purple's Hush, and his original was pretty good, but not as memorable as some of the other original tunes.
Delana... was alright, I really liked her version of Roxanne, but her original is weak.
Lucas...he just looks so uncomfortable moving around on the stage, I find it very hard to watch him, let alone listen to his voice. I think Dave summed it up best when he told Lucas that he wondered if he could listen to him for a whole concert.
I can't wait to see who they pick.
Rock On
Scott

PS - Our phone is working again...Can you believe almost five days without a phone, and not one message!

When it rains, it pours!

Sorry we haven't updated in a while, but the last week has been an interesting one to say the least.

Our modem has been playing some games with us for the past week and has only worked when it felt like it. After having two service calls canceled because the service was working when they were supposed to come, it went down for the third time in less than a week. Another service call placed, 20 more minutes on the phone doing useless diagnostics with the technician only to be told that they could have someone out here in three days, between 8 am and 11am.
Today is three days later and they showed up this morning just before 9:15am. One quick test of the modem, switched it for a new one and back on line by 9:45. All should be right with the world, but wait...there is more to the story.

On Friday evening just past, we had a pretty wicked thunderstorm roll through the area. Loud thunder and streaks of lightning that we think actually hit our house!

Thank all that is holy for surge protectors!
Television, computer all saved because of the protectors, telephone service not so lucky. We have been without phone service since Friday night, which really wasn't too big a deal as we were out all weekend, but last night we were home and only realised then that we had no phone. (Hard to order in chinese food without the phone).
A cell phone call to Bell to find out the problem, only to find out that there is already a workorder placed for today. Appointment time, sometime before 9pm.
So here we wait.
Hoping that this week is better than the last...
Scott
